The old analogue network switches off on 31 January 2027, but you don't have to give up the number your customers know. Port it to Smart Numbers and it keeps ringing, on any device, with no physical line.
Will I lose my number? No.
A number is not tied to the copper line, it's tied to a provider. When you port it to Smart Numbers before the switch-off, it moves onto our digital platform and carries on exactly as before. Only numbers left on the old network at the deadline stop working.

Keep your existing line active until the port completes. Cancelling first can put the number at risk.

Tell us the number
Give us the 01, 02, 03 or 08 number you want to keep and we'll confirm it's eligible to port.

We port it across
We move the number onto Smart Numbers and coordinate with your current provider. Typically around 10 working days.

- Will I lose my number in the switch-off?
- No. Your existing business number can be ported to Smart Numbers before the analogue network switches off, so you keep the number your customers already know.
- Which numbers can I keep?
- Virtual 01, 02, 03 and 08 numbers can be ported. If you're not sure about yours, call us and we'll check.
- What happens to my number after 31 January 2027?
- If it's still on the old analogue network it stops working. Ported to a digital service like Smart Numbers, it carries on as normal and rings wherever you route it.
- Do I need a phone line to keep the number?
- No. Once ported, the number lives on our platform and forwards to any device. There's no physical line to rent.
